School visits

We love visiting schools, libraries and book groups – we’ll go to any place we can chat about books and writing, really!

Visiting in person

We are happy to tailor our visit to include an author talk or a creative writing session or some combination of both.

We offer talks / workshops on:

– collaborative writing

– researching for writing outside your experience

– writing from history

– witches in literature

Some examples of sessions we’ve run at schools:

  • A two hour session for years 7 – 9 which included a talk about our books and a competition to re-write a traditional fairy tale (our ‘Twist A Fairytale’ workshop)
  • A one hour session with year 9 children, during which we discussed where to find inspiration for writing and talked about the process of getting published.
  • A four week creative writing course (45 minutes each session) with a group of thirty children, at the end of which the children had produced (and illustrated!) their own short story.

Skype visits

We offer free skype sessions (typically a short reading followed by a Q&A) of about twenty minutes each.

We charge in accordance with the Society of Authors’ recommendation. However, we know that some schools struggle to fund author visits so we try to be flexible where possible.

Please use the contact form on this website or email us if you’d like more information or would like to arrange a visit or skype session.
